The Highcroft Petronas Acura was destroyed by this crash and driver Scott Sharpe walked away. The team flew a new tub in from LA, recovered what parts they could, and built the car from scratch. That is very impressive.

Missed this the first time around. I think it's fantastic what these mechanics and engineers can do in the face of adversity. and even more impressive that Sharp was able to escape unharmed! Anyone know how well they did in the race?

The race was run only about four hours of the scheduled 10 hours dur to torrential rains. These were the same rains that flooded the US State of Georgia and resulted in about two dozen deaths.

The race schedule is 10 hours or 1000 miles, whichever comes first. The leading Peugeots claimed the first two spots followed by the two Audis. Team Oreca was next with the Patron Highcroft team in the sixth position.

The two pugs and the Audi of NcNish did 184 laps, the second Audi did 183, the Oreca did 181, and Patron Highcroft did 180.

A lap at Road Atlanta is 2.53 miles, so the lead lap teams did about 465 miles before the race was red flagged.

Go take a look at this video of the complete rebuild. It is quite amzaing. I am very impressed that a team can do this in a tent at a race circuit.
