I picked these numbers up from another website and there was no link to the source, so I have no idea if they are correct. In spite of that, do you think these are figures that one would consider reasonably accurate?

If they are the real numbers, then let's consider the dollars per point for each team. Paul did this for drivers, and that's what made me consider the cost of points per dollar per team.
Sorted by dollars per point.

Again, I do not know if the budget totals are accurate, but they seem reasonable to me. If anyone can provide better numbers, please do. We will re-calculate the table based on more definitive info.
A good analysis there John. The first thing that strikes me about the team budgets is that they are a long way above the proposed 40million budget put forward by Mad Max back in May. It would have been a lot for the teams to get anywhere near that figure in the near future
But getting back to the conclusions, and if you look at the top three teams they are, in effect, independent teams who seem to have got more for their buck than the manufacturers. But unlike the manufacturers they exist solely to race, and therefore if the figures don't match they will try to redress this. The manufacturers have to answer to boards and bosses, and with the Toyota operation costing $5.5m per point, and this was their best season since 2005, it is no surprise that they pulled the plug.
